End of the Year Writing Notebooks

Well… it’s that time of year where I start thinking about what to get my little darlins and how to encourage them to keep reading and writing over the summer.

I just saw a great idea over at Little Miss Glamour Goes To Kindergarten. It’s a way to kill two birds with one stone! She gives her students Summer Writing Notebooks as a gift. Check out her post by clicking here.

I loved the idea so much that I ran with it! Here’s what I ended up with:

I bought composition notebooks at Target. They were 94 cents each. Then, I went to Hobby Lobby to get Rubber Cement glue, stickers and clearance scrapbook paper. I cut the paper to fit and used the rubber cement to glue it to the cover. Then, I made a title for each notebook, printed it, glued it and decorated with stickers.

We will come up with time words as a class when they glue in the writing prompts.

Inside the cover of each, I wrote a note for each of my sweeties. Here is one example:

Then, there are a few that I think could use an ABC chart and a Blends chart. So, I printed them 2 to a page and glued them in on the first page.

If you would like these charts, you can snag them at my TPT store for only 2 dollars! Click here to purchase!

Here is a freebie for you! It includes the title and the prompts in a PowerPoint format so you can edit them. Let me know if you need me to send you the PDF.

Enjoy! Thanks, Little Miss Glamour!
